Brightridge Technology has established a dedicated local presence in Aberdeen, strengthening its ability to support organisations with cyber‑first IT services delivered end to end by a single, accountable partner.
The move brings more than 25 years of experience into the region, with Brightridge supporting organisations across the UK in sectors including oil and gas, energy transition, professional services, food and drink and the wider SME community.
Increasingly difficult to manage security via multiple providers
As cyber risk continues to grow and compliance expectations evolve, many organisations are finding it increasingly difficult to manage security in a fragmented way. Businesses are often assessed by one provider, required to remediate issues through another, and then left to evidence ongoing compliance themselves.
From speaking directly with clients, Brightridge understands how confusing and inefficient this model can be – particularly for organisations without dedicated cyber or security teams.
Cyber-first approach with in-house capability to assess, remediate and maintain security
Brightridge delivers a cyber‑first approach to managed IT services, with security designed in from the outset rather than added later. As one of a small number of IASME certifying bodies with the in‑house capability to assess, remediate and maintain security controls, the business is able to support organisations through the full lifecycle of cyber resilience and compliance.
This joined‑up model allows Brightridge to work alongside existing IT teams where they exist, or act as a fully managed partner, giving organisations a clear and defensible view of their security posture as requirements continue to evolve through standards, customers and insurers.
Led by local experts
The Aberdeen operation is led by Andy McKay, Commercial Director, who lives in Aberdeenshire and brings extensive experience of building and scaling technology businesses, alongside a strong understanding of the local business landscape. Andy is supported by a wider in‑house team spanning cyber security, technical delivery and compliance and assurance expertise.
Andy McKay said: “What we hear consistently from organisations is that they want clarity and accountability. They don’t want to juggle multiple suppliers or translate assessment findings into technical action themselves. They want one partner who understands both cyber security and the IT environment underneath it, and who is prepared to take responsibility for maintaining that over time.”
Founder and chief executive Iain Bett added: “Aberdeen businesses operate in complex, high‑risk and highly regulated environments, and that demands a level of capability and accountability that can’t be improvised. Establishing a local presence here is a deliberate investment in bringing our experience closer to the region, led by someone who understands both the technology and the local business reality.”
The Aberdeen team supports organisations with managed IT, cyber security, connectivity and business communications services, helping businesses build resilience while reducing complexity. Read more about these services here.
